About Mount Washington

Mount Washington is a unique town within the City of Pittsburgh. It boasts one of the most dramatic urban views of a downtown skyline within the United States. But there is more to this town than its grand view.

"The Mount" as we locals call it, is a place ripe with potential for growth, development and change. Mt. Washington's people are a mix of young professionals, college renters, lifelong residents and urban families.

There are nine universities and colleges within a five-mile radius of Mount Washington. Students take advantage of the low cost of housing here, making this part of Pittsburgh full of creative and intelligent young people who are searching for meaning and purpose in life.

There are many children and youth who fill the streets and parks, looking for a place to belong. There are adults and senior citizens who have lived here their entire lives and watched the sense of community diminish.

Over 16,000 people live in Mount Washington. Only 6,000 of them go to a church, here or elsewhere. Some people ask us, why does Mount Washington need ANOTHER church? We can think of 10,000 reasons why.
